B♭ Ionian
The 'major' mode — the bright pre-tonal default.
B♭ Dorian
Minor with a raised 6th — the wistful jazz/folk mode.
B♭ Phrygian
Minor with a lowered 2nd — Spanish, dark, modal jazz.
B♭ Lydian
Major with a raised 4th — the bright, floating mode.
B♭ Mixolydian
Major with a lowered 7th — folk, blues-rock, dominant.
B♭ Aeolian
Natural minor. The other 'default' tonality.
B♭ Locrian
Diminished tonic. Rare; theoretical more than practical.
