What we collect

ScaleMastery is a music-theory reference site. The Free tier needs no account and no personally identifying data to function. The site does set the following cookies / local storage entries when you visit:

• sm_consent (cookie, 365 days) — records your choice on the cookie banner. Set when you click Accept or Decline.
• sm_session (cookie, 365 days) — anonymous session ID used to retrieve your saved Worksheets across visits. Only set when you create a Worksheet (Personal / Teacher tier).
• sm_tier_token (cookie, 30 days) — encrypted record of your paid tier when you sign up. Server-signed; the cookie value reveals only the tier name.
• sm_instrument / sm_theme / sm_accent / sm_favorites / sm_practice_streak / sm_loop / sm_metronome / sm_tempo / sm_label_mode (localStorage) — your UI preferences and bookmarks. Stay on your device; never sent to the server.

Advertising

The Free tier shows display advertisements via Google AdSense, which sets its own cookies for ad targeting and frequency capping. Advertising cookies are loaded only when you grant consent via the banner. Personal and Teacher tier users see no ads and no ad cookies are loaded for them.

Your rights (EU + UK + California)

You have the right to request a copy of any data we hold about you, to correct anything inaccurate, to delete your account and Worksheets, and to withdraw advertising consent at any time. Email us at [email protected] and we'll act within 30 days.
